Lexington is the closest town of any size — twenty to twenty-five minutes from the farm — and it is where most guests end up for dinner at least once. It is a college town, so it eats earlier than you might expect and gets busy on football and parents' weekends.

A Lexington institution and thoroughly casual — burgers, sandwiches, a room full of students and locals. Good with children and good after a long day outside.
Haywood's Piano Bar & Grill
Live music some evenings and a fuller bar than most of the town offers. Worth checking what is on before you go.
TAPS
Pub food, a decent draught list, and enough television for whatever game is on. Uncomplicated, and open when some kitchens have closed.
Niko's Grille
Greek and American, generous portions, quick service. The practical choice when you have hungry people and no reservation.
Timing your evening
- Lexington is 20–25 minutes from the farm; Washington & Lee is about 17 miles, VMI about 16
- Kitchens close earlier than in a city — aim to sit down by eight
