Jump View Farm is a short drive from the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington — close enough for early classes, far enough that you are in open country rather than on a main road. It sleeps eleven across four bedrooms.
Built for a show week rather than a night
Horse Center events run for days, not evenings, and a family or barn group at a multi-day show needs somewhere to actually live: laundry, a real kitchen, and space to spread out after long days at the ring. A hotel room does none of that well, and a week of them costs more than the house.
- Eleven beds across four bedrooms, so a barn group or several families fit
- Full kitchen and laundry, which matters over a five-day show
- Four acres to walk off a long day, with 177 acres of pasture around it
- A firepit and a tennis court for the evenings between classes
Show schedules drive the calendar
The Horse Center runs a heavy schedule from spring through autumn, and the bigger multi-day shows book out local accommodation well ahead. If your dates are set by a class list, book early — the town has limited stock and the same weekends fill every year.
Distances
- Virginia Horse Center, Lexington: a short drive, roughly 20-25 minutes
- Downtown Lexington: 20-25 minutes
- VMI: 16 miles; Washington and Lee: 17.5 miles
- Roanoke airport: 67 miles
Note that horses stay at the Center; the farm is a working cattle operation and is not set up for boarding.
The house itself
Jump View Farm is an 1870s farmhouse on four acres, surrounded by 177 acres of working calf pasture, with Walker's Creek along the front boundary and Jump Mountain filling the view. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms, 2,700 square feet across two floors. The stairs are original, so it is not a step-free house.
Outside there is a full tennis court that doubles for pickleball, a basketball hoop, shuffleboard and a firepit set ready to light. There is a Level 2 EV charger. Pets are welcome — up to three, $50 per pet for the first week — though the cattle and the electric fence mean dogs need supervising.
